ICYMI: New Report Outlines Pathway to U.S. Nuclear Energy Dominance
The Working Group on U.S. Nuclear Energy Dominance this week released a new report, “How America Can Achieve Nuclear Energy Dominance: Recommendations to Implement President Trump’s Policy Agenda,” which outlines how the United States can revitalize its nuclear energy sector to meet rising domestic demand, compete internationally, and support national security and economic objectives.

Dan Poneman Joins "Advanced Nuclear" Podcast to Discuss U.S. Energy Dominance and National Security
NENSC Co-Chair Dan Poneman joined Advanced Nuclear podcast host Jim Howe to explore the evolution of nuclear policy in the U.S, the importance of bipartisan support, and the relationship between government and the nuclear industry. Poneman shares his insights on the priorities of NENSC, his initial views on the Trump administration's recent nuclear-related executive orders, the significance of U.S. nuclear exports in reducing proliferation risks, and the steps needed to resurrect the domestic nuclear fuel industry. The conversation also addresses the future of nuclear technology, including the development of advanced reactors, and the steps necessary to support a nuclear resurgence in the U.S.

LEAD STORY: National Security Panel Featured at Nuclear Energy Policy Forum
Attendees of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Nuclear Energy Policy Forum heard from a panel of experts on May 20, 2025 about nuclear energy’s role in national security. The conversation featured NENSC co-chair Dan Poneman, UCAN Power’s Lucian Niemeyer, and former Assistant Secretary of State for ISN Steve Rademaker. Topics included AI, nonproliferation, global competition, U.S. policy leadership, and more.
NENSC and UCAN Power Call on Congress to Support Deployment of Advanced Nuclear Technologies
The Nuclear Energy and National Security Coalition (NENSC) and the United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power (UCAN Power) sent a letter to the Senate and House Armed Services Committees urging the establishment of a technical and project support program within the Department of Defense to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies in support of national security and mission-critical operations.
